Rahelu pelted through the Lowdocks.
Though the sun had yet to crest the horizon, the bare stones of the wet market were already slimed with fish guts and seafowl offal (and gods only knew what else) squishing between her toes. A flock of gulls shrilled at her as she tore through their feasting and startled them into flight.
She cursed.

Q: Do I have to read Petition first?
A: No. I am that reader who will read a series out of order, so when I wrote Supplicant, I treated all of Petition as backstory. I also made sure to have several beta readers who were new to the series and had not read Petition before they jumped into reading Supplicant—and they had no problem following the story.
Q: Are there spoilers for Petition in Supplicant?
A: Yes. Supplicant picks up where Petition left off, so there are some spoilers for the events of Petition. (Inevitable, unfortunately.) Catch up for free by borrowing the ebook via your library (OverDrive, Hoopla) or via a Kobo Plus or Everand subscription. Q: Do I need to re-read Petition first?
